Subject line: Walk alongside AVANCE families this Giving Tuesday

Preview text: Together, we’re honoring family strength and building community.

Body:

This year, growing community safety concerns and economic pressures have made daily life more challenging for many AVANCE families. Despite these obstacles, families continue to show remarkable determination to learn, grow, and stay connected through AVANCE programs.

When first-time mother V joined AVANCE-Austin’s Parent-Child Education Program, she was eager to learn but quickly felt overwhelmed by the challenges of early motherhood. When her anxiety made it difficult to continue, Site Lead Ms. Lupita reached out with compassion and patience—listening, validating her fears, and reminding her that AVANCE walks alongside families at their own pace. That support gave V the confidence to return just days later, recommitting to the full nine-month program for her and her daughter’s growth.

V’s journey shows the power of AVANCE’s loving, culturally rooted support—where a parent’s fears are met not with judgment, but with patience, understanding, and unwavering belief in their potential. In a year when so many families felt stretched thin, AVANCE-Austin continues to show up with open arms, nurturing trust, lifting parents’ spirits, and creating the sense of stability, healing, and hope every family deserves.

Your Giving Tuesday gift helps ensure parents continue learning, children keep thriving, and our community stays connected even in uncertain times.

Give today to keep connection, education, and hope alive for Austin families.

Subject line: Peque y Yo: Learning that meets families where they are

Preview text: AVANCE takes early learning beyond the classroom.

Body:

Families’ lives are constantly shifting. Today, more than ever, AVANCE parents are navigating long work hours, transportation challenges, rising costs, and the stress of raising young children with limited support. When needs change, AVANCE evolves, finding new ways to meet parents and children right where they are.

One example is Peque y Yo (“Little One and Me”).

What began as a simple classroom activity—reading, play, sing-alongs, and meaningful parent-child interaction—has grown into a warm, welcoming experience that travels wherever families gather.

Today, Peque y Yo can be found in libraries filled with storybooks, parks filled with children, neighborhood apartment complexes where families live and feel safe, and clinics where parents wait for appointments. These moments nurture early literacy, build confidence, and strengthen the bond between parent and child.

This is the AVANCE Way: we listen, we show up, and we evolve alongside the families we serve.

Taking Peque y Yo on the road does more than expand access—it ensures every parent, regardless of circumstance, has the opportunity to nurture their child’s early development and build a strong foundation for school readiness and future success.

Your support makes this possible. When you give to AVANCE, you help bring early learning, connection, and hope into parks, libraries, clinics, and neighborhoods across Austin. You help us meet families where they are—and walk with them toward where they dream to be.

Will you make a gift today to ensure Peque y Yo reaches even more families in the year ahead?

Your contribution helps AVANCE show up in more neighborhoods, create more welcoming spaces, and give parents and children the tools they need to thrive.

Subject: As families move farther out, AVANCE moves with them

Preview Text: Our new Manor site is already changing lives.

Body:

As housing costs rise across Central Texas, many AVANCE families have been pushed farther from the city center—into communities with fewer services, longer commutes, and limited access to early childhood programming. When families transition to rural and semi-rural areas, the distance between home and opportunity grows. And yet one thing remains unchanged: parents’ deep desire to support their children’s development.

At AVANCE, when families move, we move with them.

This year, we launched our newest site in Manor, a growing community where many AVANCE families now live. Already, the site is serving 177 additional caregivers and children—families who previously had little access to two-generation programming, culturally responsive early learning, or the kind of wraparound support that builds stability and confidence.

The need in Manor reflects a broader reality: Rural communities often lack high-quality, accessible early childhood programs, transportation options are limited, and families experience deeper isolation. Yet parents still want—and deserve—the same opportunities as families in urban areas.

That’s why expanding to Manor is not simply growth. It is a commitment to equity.

Your generosity helps AVANCE ensure that geography is never a barrier to connection, learning, or opportunity. With your support, our Manor site is already providing:

  • Trusted early childhood education and free high-quality childcare

  • Parenting education grounded in cultural and linguistic respect

  • A welcoming space for families who often feel overlooked or unseen

  • A direct link to resources, community, and hope

As we continue to meet families where they are, your year-end gift will help sustain and strengthen our work in Manor and other communities where support is urgently needed.

Thank you for believing in every parent and every child—no matter where they call home.

Subject: Whatever the year brings, we’ll walk together

Preview: End the year by supporting the mental well-being of AVANCE families.

Body:
None of us knows what the next year will bring. But one thing remains certain: AVANCE-Austin will continue walking alongside families—honoring their strengths, responding with care, and creating pathways toward stability, healing, and hope.

At AVANCE-Austin, walking alongside families means caring for the whole person. We know that when caregivers are mentally and emotionally supported, every other part of life becomes possible—from parenting and education to employment and financial stability. Yet for many of the mothers we serve, traditional mental health care is out of reach.

This year, we deepened our commitment to emotional well-being through the expansion of Healthy Moms Charlas—peer-led support groups rooted in the Latino tradition of the charla, where women gather to share stories, wisdom, and connection. Over a shared meal, mothers talk openly about anxiety, identity, parenting, and healing. Charlas are not therapy, but they are profoundly therapeutic—familiar, stigma-free spaces where women feel seen, supported, and not alone.

Through AVANCE’s peer leadership training, mothers are stepping into new roles as facilitators and healing-centered leaders, guiding each session alongside MSSW students and building a pipeline of mental health leadership from within the community. Research shows peer-led mental health groups are as effective as professional counseling—and often even more trusted. We see this every day in Charlas: when support comes from someone who shares your story, healing feels possible.

As we close 2025, we celebrate every parent who found connection, every child who began a new chapter, and every supporter who made it possible. Your generosity ensures that families can access these spaces of strength, healing, and community—no matter what the coming year holds.

Will you make a year-end gift to ensure AVANCE remains a trusted partner for families in the year ahead?

Together, we’ll keep walking — with purpose, with compassion, and with hope.

THANK YOU - January 8

Subject: Starting the Year with Gratitude

Preview: Because of you, parents and children are learning, growing, and building brighter futures together.

Body:

Dear NAME,

As we begin a new year, we want to start with a heartfelt message: thank you.

Because of your generosity, parents and children across Central Texas are learning, growing, and building brighter futures together. Just before the holidays, AVANCE to College students wrapped up their semester with group presentations—an experience that was equal parts joyful, emotional, and deeply affirming. Parents shared what they’ve learned this semester about parenting, child development, and their own well-being.

They spoke with confidence about caring for their mental health, demonstrated safer car-seat practices, and shared drawings their children created that helped them recognize secure attachment. What stood out most wasn’t what they presented but who they’ve become. Parents reflected on how nervous they felt at first, and how proud they were of themselves by the end. They talked about building friendships, finding their voices, and discovering new confidence as learners and leaders.

This growth didn’t happen by accident. It happened because our community of supporters believes in parents as their child’s first teacher—and chose to invest in culturally responsive, two-generation education that meets families where they are.

As we look ahead to the year to come, please know that your support is already at work—creating opportunity, strengthening families, and opening doors to education and possibility.

From all of us at AVANCE-Austin, thank you for walking alongside families and making this work possible. We are so grateful to begin the new year with you.

With deep appreciation,

Maggie Jaime, Executive Director
